Domain Cost Club, doing the maths to see if it is worth it

Domain Cost Club, doing the maths to see if it is worth it

First you need a quick overview of what Domain Cost Club is all about. The following video presentation will do that and more:

Getting domains using At-Cost pricing

Once you buy a membership package of them, you can buy domains via your Domain Cost Club Membership using special at-cost pricing.

Currently Domain Cost Club Members pay $7.85 per .COM domain per year.

Currently Domain Cost Club Members pay $7.54 per .NET domain per year.

New top level domain extensions are becoming available all the time. Some very special current offerings include:

Currently Domain Cost Club Members pay $12.00 per .SITE domain for the first year, then $20.00 per year.

Currently Domain Cost Club Members pay $0.25 per .REVIEW domain for the first year, then $19.98 per year.

The current recommended price is more than the price that Domain Cost Club Members pay, usually at least double.

Let’s do some maths

How much does it cost you with your current domain name registrar for the following:
a) The cost of domain name registration for the year.
b) The cost of privacy services for the year.
c) Do this for each of the domain names, to come up with a figure.
Remember to compare like with like.

How much would it cost you with Domain Cost Club for the following:
a) The cost of registration for the year.
b) The cost of privacy services for the year.
c) Do this for each of the domain names, to come up with a figure.
Remember to compare like with like.
d) The cost of Domain Cost Club Membership per year.

I did these calculations today for 4 .COM domains which require privacy registration services. I currently happen to own 4 .COM domains and they all use privacy registration services. This number will increase over the next while.

With my previous domain name registrar, today, I would pay $9.99 per .COM domain per year plus another $7.95 for privacy registration services, coming to $17.94 per .COM domain. With 4 .COM domains, this would come to $71.76 per year.

With Domain Cost Club with an active Domain Cost Cost Membership, today, I would pay $7.85 per .COM domain per year plus another $0.00 for privacy registration services, coming to $7.85 per .COM domain. With 4 .COM domains, this would come to $31.40 per year.

I have to factor in the cost of Domain Cost Club Membership, this is $99 per year or $499 for a one time payment. For the sake of this comparison, I roll with the $99 per year. So that means in total, my 4 .COM domains would cost $130.40 per year, when I factor in the cost of Domain Cost Club Membership.

So on the basis of only 4 .COM domains, the cost of Domain Cost Club Membership would not pay off at the end of the year for domain purchases alone. There are other considerations I mention later in this article which I think are very important.

However, .COM is only one of many top level domain extensions sold by Domain Cost Club. For example .SITE was released earlier this month, July 15, 2015 to be exact.

I decided to see how much my previous domain name registrar would charge if I wanted to purchase .SITE domains. I discovered to my horror and to my utter surprise, that their interface would not quote me for a .SITE domain. It kept suggesting other domain extension names, however no way would it allow me to buy a .SITE domain.

Lets assume I want 4 .SITE domains which require require privacy registration services.

As my sources in the industry inform me that the recommended retail price is $38 per .SITE domain for the first year, then $38.00 per year. Domain Cost Club Members can get them currently at $12 per .SITE domain for the first year, then $20 per year. For the sake of this comparison we will assume this price along with another $7.95 for privacy registration services, coming to $45.95 per .SITE domain. With 4 .SITE domains, this would come to $183.80 per year. These assumptions may not pan out in the future. You should check out these figures for yourself because we live in a fast moving world and things change very quickly.

So you may have to go to Domain Cost Club to get your .SITE domains, because you can not purchase .SITE domains from your current registrar. You can not afford to wait, because if you do, someone else may buy the .SITE domain names you are interested in. You never know. This may also be the case with other top level extension names released in the last while.

With Domain Cost Club with an active Domain Cost Cost Membership, today, I would pay $12.00 per .SITE domain per year plus another $0.00 for privacy registration services, coming to $12.00 per .SITE domain. With 4 .SITE domains, this would come to $48.00 per year.

Like before, I have to factor in the cost of Domain Cost Club Membership, this is $99 per year or $499 for a one time payment. For the sake of this comparison, I roll with the $99 per year. So that means in total my 4 .SITE domains would cost $147.00 per year.

So on the basis of only 4 .SITE domains, the cost of Domain Cost Club Membership would pay off at the end of the year for domain purchases alone, bearing in mind the assumptions already mentioned above.

The cost of Domain Cost Club Membership is offset by commissions and Bounties earned on personal and indirect referrals. Earn a minimum of $25 per personal referral. I practice what I preach. I am a charter member of Domain Cost Club. I no longer pay retail prices for my domains, registrations and renewals. Happy days. 🙂

OK, what do you do now?

You do some maths and see does it make sense for you. I would suggest you use this article as a guide.
You do have to factor in the cost of Domain Cost Club membership, the number of domains you buy per year, the number of domains requiring private registration services and the associated affiliate arrangement. When I factor in those factors, for me, Domain Cost Club comes out on top. This may also be the case for you.
